Shooter Quake III from id Software adapted to a web browser and integrated into a social network. Automatic search for adversaries based on your playing experience, statistics including number of shots and accuracy and many other improvements.
Creators of EVE Online had difficult and at the same time interesting goal – they wanted to give players rules and tools to build their own virtual society. And they really succeeded – EVE Online is a game where you can find absolutely real world – here is everything - war and economics, politics and manufacturing, a game where every person can really achieve something. Economics is so realistic that in the history of the game there were cases of buying immovable property involving impressive amount of real world money as well as cases of fraud schemes.
The most well known example by now is EVE Investment Bank — EIB which turned out to be a grandiose fraud. The owner of EIB – Cally – was insisting that bank live stock is reinvested for getting profit and regular monthly payments to the investors. Although after overall volume of the investments reached some level he confessed that there was no working system of getting profit and he just was holding all this money on his personal account.
This game is a great example of collaboration of big amount of players. They are building it with their own hands. Everything is interdependent: every stone found by you will become a piece of the whole, for example, of someone’s ship. You won’t be able to pass the whole game alone, you can only choose some specialty as your activity. Miner, long distance truck driver, engineer, merchant, warrior, captain, pirate – everyone can find something due to his taste and so the game will never become boring.
Splendid quality of graphics and huge, endless space full of danger and secrets will impress everyone without any doubt. Great ambient music and charming female voice of on-board computer seems to be just embodiment of all our child dreams about unknown world of space. And although most of the time you see big amount of colorful icons, tables and windows on the screen of you computer in any moment you can switch to contemplation of brilliantly and detailed drawn space ships and the world around.

Developers made a lot of efforts to make the space real. The system of character development encourages people to collaborate more and organise a society. Skills are growing passively and there is no way to speed this process by using some skills all the time. Perfection of the character happens in real time and doesn’t finish even when you are offline. You can spend 24 hours online in EVE but nevertheless to learn all the skills you will spend 3 years. And by this time developers will invent something new to keep you busy for another 3 years. Division of labour and building corporations – and no other way? No, we should admit there are no strict limitations in the game, you can learn whatever you want. If you play alone you can survive but you will be only stealing some things from big corporations. And no one can guarantee that will be something of a great quality. So it is for you to decide what life to choose!

And nevertheless some people will say – boring! Those who like breath-taking non-stop action would better stay away from EVE online. Even profile of warrior won’t give you enough satisfaction and illusion of active enough real life. Yes, space is full of danger and adventures. And further you move from the centre of the universe more probable you will have troubles. But nevertheless it is different - probably not enough deaths. Here characters are not elves and orks with immortality who can participate in enormous amount of battles and still survive. Simple peaceful miners can’t risk so much, it can cost them their lives.

Unfortunately trial wasn’t not enough for me at all. On the second day when I only started enjoying the game properly and found accumulation of asteroids and was about to buy industrial ship that gives 200000 profits each trip, character refused to learn skill Gallente industrial ship. The suggestion was – buy an account and go on studying all skills you want. So it seems I will have to buy one because EVE is the only MMORPG that was able to impress me so much!
